Facebook to move to Office 365

Internet darlings Facebook are to move to Office 365…maybe helping make Microsoft cool again

Facebook have been using Office 365 for a while, but with on-premise Exchange servers… but now they are ready to move completely to Microsoft’s cloud service for their email and calendars. And whilst Facebook undoubtedly have the in house skills and personnel to manage their email themselves, they clearly see the benefits of Microsoft managing it for them.

In a recent blog post by Facebook’s CIO Tim Campos, he extols the virtues Office 365 will bring the Social Media giant – with the security, the flexibility, and improvements in productivity.

The Facebook move to Office 365 is certainly a big win for Microsoft, who have traditionally been seen as uncool for the Silicon Valley pioneers. With Facebook championing them, it could see many of the other tech companies following also.
