“Freemium” ― is a business model offering basic services for free, while charging a premium for more advanced features, making it ideal for small firms on a budget. There are now hundreds of freemium business services. Here are 5 of the best freemium services that we use at Synium IT at the basic (or upgraded level) – but don’t take our word for try them out for yourself!

Dropbox (document sharing and backup)

Dropbox is a cloud-based system that allows you to store up to 2GB worth of files and documents for free, as well as share files with colleagues without the need to email attachments, making it ideal for project work. Any file you save to Dropbox instantly saves to your computer, smartphone and the Dropbox website, meaning you can work on the move.

SurveyMonkey (Market Research and Surveys)

If you want to carry out customer satisfaction surveys, product feedback or general market research without paying hefty agency fees should consider SurveyMonkey. A simple online tool that allows users to create free, web-based surveys. Signing up to the free service will give you ten questions per survey and up to 100 responses . Data can be gathered via your website, Facebook or email.

Insightly (CRM- Customer Relationship Management)

Insightly is a CRM system. They have a free version (for 2 ysers) – this allows you to try it out and see if it fits for your organisation. It allows you to keep all the information for customers, projects, and

Evernote (Note storage)

A really cool application to store notes. When we first started using this, we didn’t ‘get it’ – didn’t really appreciate it’s full worth. It was only when we started using it more intensively did we realise its full potential. Great search abilities – great access; from smartphones, iPads, PCs, Web browsers. All your notes anytime. Brilliant.

Flipboard

This is an app on a smartphone. A great way to setup your own magazines – with articles from areas of interest to you.
